It’s that time of year when I start thinking about planners. Will this be the year I finally find the perfect planner, the planner that takes my business to the next level and organizes my life once and for all? Such hope! Such dreams!
Me and Erin Condren
I’m not sure how I happened upon the Erin Condren website. I loved the idea of uploading a company design for the cover and being able to change it out for another with my initials. I ordered in mid-summer and spent way too much, but hey, this was a life-changing planner! In fact it was a “LifePlanner.” I could start using it in July, it had tabs for all the months and cool accessories like a pen holder and elastic bands.
While I waited for it to arrive, I discovered there was a verticle layout option and I had ordered horizontal. I second guessed myself. Would vertical have succeeded where horizontal would not? Then I stumbled across a video of an “Erin Condren unboxing,” and Facebook groups devoted to sharing weekly layouts with washi tape and stickers. What had I gotten into? There was a whole Erin Condren culture I never knew existed. I didn’t have time for all that.
It wasn’t far into the year when I realized this planner was simply too big. I’d leave it home because it wouldn’t fit into my purse. And it didn’t actually change my life.
The Posh Planner
I found my Mary Englebreit 2017 Posh Planner on Amazon. I loved the cute design and it looked like the size would fit in my purse. The description said it would start in July, 2016, but there were no weekly pages until 2017. I hated the binding. It will not lay flat. There are no tabs for finding the months. Another failure.
Fringe Weekly and Monthly Planner
I have high hopes for the 2018 planner I came across last week at Home Goods. It’s turquoise with pineapples! It has tabs for the months! It starts in August and lays flat with a spiral binder! And seriously, it was $6.99! I just know this will be the life-changing planner I’ve been looking for! I’ll let you know…
